The project was an Australian Management Practices Extension Study. It is an extension study doing qualitative analysis of management practices at Cochlear and Resmed to find out what makes management of those organisations so effective.
The data collection contains a qualitative investigation into management practices at two manufacturing organisations previously top-ranked for effective management.
The collection contains;
For Cochlear:
- Literature review
- Interview questionnaire.
- Focus group questions taken from Roy Green’s previous study.
- Historical newspaper search on Cochlear.
- 4 semi-structured interviews with senior managers: Senior VP HR, CEO Head of manufacturing, Senior VP Manufacturing and the Head of Manufacturing and Logistics.
- 7 focus groups with HR professional and line employees.
- A chapter for a book called “Non-Union Employee Representation” to be published next year (2013). Authors are Paul Gollan and Senia Kalfa.
For Resmed
- 9 individual interviews with senior managers.
- More interviews planned for 2013.
