Professor Paul J. Gollan holds an MSc (Econ) and PhD from the London School of Economics and is currently a Professor and Associate Dean (Research) in Faculty of Business and Economics at Macquarie University. He is also Visiting Professor in the Employment Relations and Organisational Behaviour Group in the Department of Management at the London School of Economics and Adjunct Professor at the Macquarie Graduate School of Management. He is also currently Visiting Senior Fellow at the Australian School of Business at the University of New South Wales. Previously he was a Lecturer in the Department of Industrial Relations at the London School of Economics.

He has lectured at a number of universities and colleges throughout the United Kingdom and Australia. Originating in Australia, Paul has also previously held a number of Senior Research and Lecture positions at Macquarie University, University of Sydney, Imperial College London and Kings College London in the UK. Paul has authored, co-authored and co-edited a number of books in the fields of human resources and industrial relations including Employee relations in the press (1997), Models of employee participation in a changing global environment – diversity and interaction (2001), Partnership at work: The challenge of employee democracy, Works Councils in Australia – future prospects and possibilities and Employee Representation in Non-Union Firms (2007). He is also author for Strategic human resource management: a critical review (Sage Publications) and co-editor for The Oxford Handbook of Participation in Organizations, (Oxford University Press) both due for release in 2010.

Paul has published and/or guest editor on employee participation issues for a number of leading academic journals. These include: Asia-Pacific Journal of Human Resource Management; Industrial Relations Journal; Industrial Relations – A Journal of Economy and Society (Berkeley); Human Relations; Employee Relations: The International Journal Human Resource Management; International Journal of Operations and Production Management; Advances in Industrial and Labor Relations; Personnel Review; Economic and Industrial Democracy; Journal of Industrial Relations. He is co-editor of Advances in Industrial and Labor Relations and a consulting editor for the International Journal of Management Reviews.

In 2008 he was instructional design advisor and subject specialist for Australian Human Resources Institute Professional Diploma of Human Resources. He is also Chief Investigator on a number recent competitive research grants in including:, ‘Impact of Management Practices on Firm Performance’ (with Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research); ‘The impact of employee voice on organisational value and performance’ (External Collaborative Research Grant); and Australian Research Council Linkage Grant ‘Human Resource Managers Contribution to Workplace Performance’ (with Australian Human Resource Institute). The total of his current research grants total in excess of $1.2 million.
