The data provides atmospheric DMS surface concentrations at Heron Island (23.44°S, 151.91°E) on the southern Great Barrier Reef from 5-18 February 2016. Accompanying the atmospheric DMS dataset are 1 min averaged particle number concentrations in two size ranges (0.5-2.5 micron & >2.5 micron). Solar irradiance (300-1100 nm), collected at 15 min intervals, is also provided.
The atmospheric dimethylsulfide (DMS) data was collected using an automated gas chromatograph fitted with a pulsed flame photometric detector (GC-PFPD). This instrumentation was controlled by an auto-sampler programmed to measure atmospheric DMS every 20 minutes. Additionally, solar irradiance was collected at Heron Island using a HOBO Pendant Silicon Pyranometer (Onset Data Loggers, USA).
