Full description

This dataset accompanies the paper titled "How Safe are Women? Constructing a Cross-National Index on the Foundations of Women’s Safety". It contains the underlying indicators and composite scores used to construct the Women's Safety Index (WSI) across its three dimensions: Equity, Protection, and Resources. Each indicator was selected based on theoretical and empirical relevance to women’s safety. The dataset includes:

  • Raw and processed indicator (score) values used in Index construction
  • Dimension-level and overall WSI scores
  • Temporal coverage supporting comparative analyses
  • Data source information (whether the corresponding data point was an original measurement, a timeseries imputation, or a regional/income average)

The uploaded data enable users to replicate the analyses presented in the paper, conduct further research, and engage with the interactive digital platform for visualisation and comparison of women’s safety across regions and over time.
