The Burkard 7 Day Volumetric Spore Trap sampler (Burkard Manufacturing Co. Ltd., Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, UK) uses a range of adhesive surface compound (50% saturated Dow Corning® high vacuum grease in solvent) on MelinexTM tape (Burkard Manufacturing Co. Ltd.). The seven-day tapes were then cut into 24-hr segments and mounted on glass slides with a stain of 2% Saffranin O in glycerol jelly. Analysis of each 24-hr period is conducted by counting three transects at 400 magnification.
