Brief description
This dataset contains bird occurrence data collected at the Warra Tall Eucalypt site between 2008 - 2016Lineage
Bird surveys at the Warra Tall Eucalypt site were conducted between 2008 - 2016 along the “Bird Track” within the Warra Long-Term Ecological Research site (www.warra.com). The Bird Track survey route is situated in Eucalyptus obliqua primary (unlogged) forest. Bird surveys were conducted at 20 plots positioned at approximately 50m intervals along the Bird Track. All birds seen or heard within a 5-minute sample period at each plot were recorded, noting their identity based on visual or aural cues. Visits to all plots lasted a total of 3 hours and were restricted to days with fine weather. Weather conditions were based on the Beaufort Wind Scale. Lefort and Grove (2009) document the results for birds in that study for the first three years.

CreditWe at TERN acknowledge the Traditional Owners and Custodians throughout Australia, New Zealand and all nations. We honour their profound connections to land, water, biodiversity and culture and pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.
This project was funded by Forestry Tasmania (1998-2004; 2009-2015); funded under the Tasmanian Community Forestry Agreement (2005-2009) ; Bird Track bird surveys funded by TERN (2014-2015).
Bird surveys were conducted to to provide a description of the bird community, including its richness and composition, and having established a baseline description to monitor the dynamics and phenology of the community over time.
