Full description

Following an enquiry into Hospital and Health Services in Victoria, the Health Commission of Victoria was established. The Victorian Government called for applications for the position of Chairman of the Health Commission and in January 1977 a Selection Advisory Committee was appointed. Mr Maurice Brown of the Public Service Board was one of the members of the Selection Committee. Secretarial services to the Selection Advisory Committee were provided by the Public Service Board.

Meetings of the Selection Advisory Committee took place on January 20, April 21, May 19 and June 30 1977. A sub-committee was appointed to make an initial review of applications and met on May 5 and May 13.

On 7 September 1977 the Committee made a written report to the Minister.

This series comprises files relating to the project, including all correspondence with enquirers and applicants and reports to the Minister, which were placed in the records of the Public Service Board VA 886. The series documents the process of selection of the Chairman of the Health Commission of Victoria. On 11 January 1978, the Governor-in-Council appointed Dr. Gad Trevaks as Chairman of the Health Commission of Victoria.
