This series consists of wages books recording the amount of fortnightly wages received by employees of the Lighting/Electricity Department of the Electric Supply Company of Victoria, Ballarat, for the period 1903 to 1934. In February 1917, the department changed its name from the Lighting Department to the Electricity Department.In addition to recording individual wages, the purpose of the record also appears to have an accounting function, to allocate costs performed by each individual to particular budget lines.
Each book includes the following details:
Voucher number
Name of employee and occupation
Number of hours worked
Amount of gross wages
Details of deductions
Amount of nett wages
Breakdown of cost allocations for various tasks performed
