This series contains annual reports of the Australian Centre for the Moving Image which is also known as ACMI (VA 4411).

In November 2001 the Film Act 2001 (No. 87/2001) was passed in Parliament. This Act repealed the Cinemedia Corporation Act 1997 and resulted in the administrative division of Cinemedia into Film Victoria (Film Victoria II, VA 4379) and the Australian Centre for the Moving Image. This Act came into effect on 1 January 2002.

In accordance with the provisions of section 46 of the Financial Management Act 1994, the Minister responsible for the Australian Centre for the Moving Image was required to table a copy of the annual report in each House of Parliament at the end of each financial year.
