Full description

The series comprises general administration and works files created by the Civil Construction Section, Civil Engineering Department.

The Civil Engineering Department was responsible for the design, civil construction and alterations to permanent way, building structures, roads, bridges, points and crossings, maintenance depots, office accommodation, tunnels, paving and drainage and electrical overhead structures.

The Section had responsibility for arranging the construction of all Civil Engineering Works other than of a maintenance or minor regional oriented nature.

This Group also supervised and administered many contracts involving civil engineering works for V/Line.

Minutes of Centralised Traffic Control (CTC) and Carriage Maintenance Depot (CMD) Project Group.
