VPRS 11958 Case Files Register, known as Case Tracking Labels

Full description

This series was created to provide a register of cases heard by the Industrial Relations Commission (VA 1009) and Employee Relations Commission (VA 3125) between 1981 and 1996. This series consists of cards (known as labels) that are pasted into a book. The Commission also operated a computer database system (which, unfortunately, no longer exists) and these labels were used as a backup system as the computer database was prone to unreliability.

It is not known whether the cards were produced to input data into the database or were produced as a hard copy version of the information contained on the database.

Details on each card includes the case number, date case was lodged, a brief precis of the case (which can include a reference to the relevant Act/Award), names of the parties involved and the type of case being heard (ie. appeal against dismissal, application for a particular organisation to be recognised within a particular award).
