The Industrial Relations Commission was established in 1981 under the provisions of the Industrial Relations Act 1979 (No.9365) which came into effect on 1 November 1981.The Employee Relations Act 1992 which came into operation on the 1 March 1993 introduced a new industrial relations system and replaced the Industrial Relations Commission with the Employee Relations Commission (VA 3125).
