Full description
The Teachers Registration Board (VA 4087) was created in accordance with the Education (Amendment) Act 1986 (No.118). The primary function of the Board was to approve the registration of teachers in Victoria. This function comprises the bulk of the content of the minutes.
The appendices to the minutes contain listings of all applications from persons who were eligible for and approved for registration for primary and secondary schools. Also listed are those applications which were refused registration, the reason for refusal, and advice forwarded to applicants to ensure future approval.
Also listed are Applications to lapse - those applicants that failed to provide appropriate documentation within the required time. Those persons not eligible for registration are also listed.
The minutes also record the names of those attending the meeting and apologies from board members who were absent. The minutes contain confirmation of the minutes from the previous meeting, items of general business for later discussion, business arising from the previous meeting, details of any correspondence received by the board, reports presented to the board from various sub-committees such as the Qualifications Assessment Committee, the Applications Committee, and the Administrative Committee, and any recommendations of the board. The Teacher Registration Board was preceded by the Primary Teachers Registration Board, the Secondary Teachers Registration Board, and the Technical Teachers Registration Board.
