The function of the register was to maintain a record of prisoners received and discharged through the prison. Information recorded includes:
* the prisoner's gaol number
;* prisoner's registered number
;* name; sentence
;* offence; date of conviction and court convicted at
;* when received
;* from where received; when discharged
;* to where discharged; and
* how discharged.

This series is a previous series to VPRS 5204 Return of Prisoners Received and Discharged.
