The Victorian Institute of Secondary Education was established under the Victorian Institute of Secondary Education Act 1976.The function of the Institute was to provide assistance to persons who were in a process of transition from secondary school to further studies by providing for the provision of adequate information, consultation, guidance and preparation and through the arrangement of student assessments.
The Institute was replaced by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Board (VA 2727) in 1986 when the Act was repealed by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Board Act 1986.
