The registers, which are arranged by the department from which an inquiry was received, are principally concerned with the legal problems which have caused contention within a particular department. The subjects requiring legal advice from the Crown Solicitor's Office are listed chronologically within each department. The departmental number is given in each case, the repeat number is given when this is applicable, the name of the person to whom the matter has been referred, the date the enquiry was received, the office number of the enquiry and finally, the completion of the enquiry, is noted. In certain cases it has been noted where the correspondence has been filed.
