Full description

This workflow is an introduction for molecular biologists to uncover the species diversity (the 'who') that make up their sample using the 16S rRNA metagenomics approach. The workflow covers the steps required for the first part of a 16S rRNA metagenomics study applied to samples collected from a single site. The goal of the 16S study is to understand the complexity of the community being sampled. This is assessed as a function of the number of species in the community (richness) and their relative abundances (evenness). The workflow consists of the following steps: 1. Dereplicate reads; 2. Cluster reads into Operational Taxonomic Units (OTUs); 3. Chimera detection and removal; 4. Generate an OTU table; 5. Phylogenetic Tree alignment; 6. Rarefaction analysis; 7. Collector Curve analysis
