Accurate information about the Earth’s lithosphere (comprising the crust and underlying mantle) supports both our understanding of the fundamental geological processes and structures, and the manner in which they evolved over time. Appropriate research infrastructure allows for the acquisition and study of properties of the Earth’s structures and materials, and provides access and interoperability of large and complex datasets, along with software tools for simulation and modelling.
