The Tambo Water Board (VA 5681) was formed from the amalgamation of the Bruthen Waterworks Trust (VA 2072), Buchan Waterworks Trust (VA 2073), Lakes Entrance Sewerage Authority (VA 1998), Lakes Entrance Waterworks Trust (VA 2113), and Metung Waterworks Trust (VA 2131), effective from 1 October 1984.
The Tambo Water Board together with the Orbost, Mitchell and Mallacoota Water Boards were merged to form the East Gippsland Region Water Authority (VA 4237), effective from 1 January 1995.
