Haring Johannes Swart (1922-1993) was a Senior Lecturer in mycology at the School of Botany, The University of Melbourne, from 1966-1988. During his career he published 58 papers describing, more than 100 species, many of which are lodged at The University of Melbourne Herbarium. Swart was a perfectionist whose work quality still is greatly admired world-wide by mycologists, toxicologists, pathologists and taxonomists (Parbery 1994).
