This register contains a summary record of all Suburban Holdings in the Land District of Armidale, kept by the Armidale Lands Office. This tenure was introduced in 1912 as a lease in perpetuity designed to meet the needs of rural workers desirous of establishing a home in close proximity to country towns and to provide them with the facilities for small cultivation. The leasee was required to erect a dwelling on the land within twelve months.
