Stata program for matching: imatch

Research Project

Full description With the rapid accumulation of large population based survey data and hospitalisation data, matching has increasingly been used as an intuitive approach to estimate the effect of an intervention or a risk factor by accounting for the covariates. imatch has been developed as a Stata program to perform individual matching for either cohort studies or case-control studies for Stata users. This program can be used for matching multiple controls according to a large number of variables. The program generates a matched dataset according to a study design for further analysis. This program is flexible, and mimics the conventional manual matching. Researchers can use bmatch and pmatch options, to specify variables which should be identical and variables which should be closest between the matching groups.
