Data associated with research of the Sea Anemone 8 toxin family.

This project involved the assembly of new sea anemone genomes, from which questions pertaining to the evolutionary history of venom proteins were probed. A novel Sea Anemone 8 protein was found in Telmatactis on the basis of its structural inversions. Furthermore, it was found that the Sea Anemone 8 protein family is unique to sea anemones, and that it performs functions unique to it which diverge from the ShK protein family.

Genome assemblies are accessible via the following NIH links.

  • QUT_ActTen_1.0 - Organism name: Actinia tenebrosa (Australian red waratah sea anemone).

  • QUT_TelSte_1.0 - Organism name: Telmatactis stephensoni (sea anemones).

Further data is available under the 'Access the data' section.
