All but five of these date from before 1930. The quantity involved is obviously only a minuscule portion of the original patient records from these years, making it seem likely that this is merely a sample selected to be preserved for historical purposes. The records take the form of files, containing Hospital forms and stationery in a variety of formats. Each patient’s record constitutes a single file, and is held in a large manila envelope bearing the patient’s name and the date on which the patient was discharged or died. Some envelopes are also marked with the initial letter of the patient’s surname, indicating that these files were once organised alphabetically, but the current organization is chronological by date of discharge or death. The files have been gathered into six bundles, which occupy one box.&rft.creator=AGY-3053 | Royal Newcastle Hospital &rft_subject=HISTORICAL STUDIES&rft_subject=HISTORY AND ARCHAEOLOGY&rft.type=dataset&rft.language=English Access the data
