Qualitative data collected include questions on demographics, work life balance, medical education and fellowship, and where participants have lived. In 2013 there were 2628 Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Queensland) members and more than 17,000 members Australia wide. Therefore, understanding the impact of regional placements on career outcomes is of interest to a wide range of individuals, organisations and policy makers.
