All seedlings were assigned two sets of coordinates; ‘line coordinates’ (x’s 0 - 20 m, y’s 0 - 1 m) and ‘plot coordinates’ (x’s 0 – 500 m,y’s 0 – 500 m). Seedling height ( from the highest leaf to the ground directly below) family, genus and species for all seedlings were measured and recorded. Herbarium specimens or detailed notes were taken to identify plants that could not immediately be identified in the field.
