This register contains a summary record of all Town Lands Leases in the Land District of Glen Innes, kept by the Glen Innes Lands Office.

This tenure was introduced in 1916 as a perpetual lease; the rights to purchase were granted in 1917. The area included in the lease was not to exceed one-half acre and the holder was required to pay an annual rent.

The register records information such as: the year and number of the lease; name of purchaser or tenderer and their address; date of sale or tender; gazettal of lease, value and rent; name of transferee and address; date of transfer; date of letter notifying registration of transfer at Head Office; a description of the land, town, parish, county, land district, shire; capital value as determined for subsequent periods and rent; date of issue of lease, and to whom issued; payments made, dates of payment, and period paid for, annual rent, interest on late payments, year ending; and any further remarks.
