This paper based collection of records from Swallow and Ariell includes: correspondence 1881-1946, including letters to F.T. Derham from Alfred Deakin (business and political colleague of F.T. Derham) 1884-1902; minutes 1888-1953; agreements and legal documents 1877-1950; patents and trade marks 1869-1895; accounts 1883-1962; photographs; advertising poster for Swallow and Ariell biscuits dating somewhere between c.1870 and c.1880. Swallow and Ariell Pty. Limited (1858-1964) were a biscuit manufacturing company, prominent in the history of Victorian manufacturing since its foundation by Thomas Swallow in 1858. In 1859 Thomas Harris Ariell joined the firm. By 1880 the business was producing 150 different lines of biscuits.
