Associated Pulp And Paper Mills Limited (APPM) formed in 1936 under the auspices of the Collins House group with the amalgamation of Paper Makers Limited and Tasmanian Paper Company, becoming a large scale paper manufacturing operation at Burnie, Tasmania. A series of takeovers together with the commencement of manufacturing in Victoria and New South Wales made APPM a prominent force within the Australian paper and timber industry. The major shareholders included North Broken Hill Ltd, Broken Hill South Ltd, Australian Glass Manufacturers, Amalgamated Zinc and WH Smith and Company.
