PyroTagger

Research Project

Full description PyroTagger is an open-access software pipeline developed in 2009-2010 at the DOE Joint Genome Institute for high-throughput analysis of small subunit rRNA amplicon pyrosequences. It combines efficient quality filtering, dereplication, clustering (via the custom Pyroclust algorithm), and taxonomic classification. This publication represents one of the earliest scalable microbial community analysis frameworks predating modern OTU/ASV methods such as QIIME and DADA2. The associated PyroTagger source code (version 1.0) is provided as supplementary material for historical and reproducibility purposes.
