Full description

This series consists of a single volume produced by the Fisheries and Oyster Beds Branch (later known only as the State Fisheries Branch) registering oyster lessees alphabetically by surname between 1899 and 1930.

Under each name the register records address, lease numbers and localities, length of foreshore in yards, annual rental and particulars of lease. Included in the particulars of the lease are the term of the lease in years and the date from which the lease began. The register also records expiry of lease dates or the name to whom and date of which the lease was transferred.

Tabs from A-Z allow the user to navigate the volume. Listed at the front of each letter are the names of all the lessees recorded under that letter and the page number on which their details can be found.

This volume can be used to find out the lease numbers attributed to individual oyster lessees thereby allowing users to garner information from oyster lease files, rental cards and rental registers that are arranged in lease number order.
