This collection was Taken during February/March 1970 at the time of the great Hindu festival of Shivaratri in honour of the deity Shiva, the creator and destroyer of the Universe. At that festival sadhus or itinerant yogis gather in great numbers at the most holy Hindu temple in Nepal, Pashupatinath, near Kathmandu,which may be translated as 'Lord of All Creatures' - an epithet of Shiva.
