Full description The project investigated whether the human brain extracts cues about a face's emotion and sex at different processing stages. The results revealed that the human brain can determine the emotional valence and perceived sex of a stranger's face from a brief glance (less than 95 ms). Importantly, emotional valence and perceived sex signals were associated with unique temporal signatures, with peak decoding performance occurring earlier for emotional valence than for perceived sex.
