Full description
Copies of letters to Commandants of the Mounted Police in the various districts. The letters are concerned with appointments to the force, rations and arms supplied, trouble with Aborigines, escort of prisoners, robberies and bushrangers, and barracks and quarters.From 1827 to 1846 see NRS 989. NRS 982 and NRS 985 also include letters to the Commandants of the Mounted Police.
The Mounted Police Force was discontinued from 31 December 1850, the Legislative Council refusing to vote any amount for their support.
