This diary is said to have been kept by Campbell Stevens who held a number of public positions on Lord Howe Island, including Postmaster and Special Constable.

Stevens was appointed Assistant District Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages for the Island on 31 May 1893 and for Forster in 1900.

This is a photocopy of the original record, made in July 1980. NSW State Archives does not hold the original diary.
