Full description

These are plans which accompanied applications for billiard licenses within the Metropolitan Licensing District. The majority of the plans have a stamp from the Metropolitan Licensing Court on them and a note referring to the approval or rejection of an application for a billiard license under the Billiard and Bagatelle Licensing Act, 1882 (45 Victoria Act No. 24 of 1881) and subsequent Acts. The plans are of premises proposed to be used as billiard rooms or saloons, or additions to such, and feature floor plans, elevations and sections.

The plans are arranged alphabetically by suburb (including an entry for Sydney city). Information detailed on the plans varies but usually includes, locality - town or suburb and street name(s), name of applicant or owner, name of architect, date and scale of plan, type of plan - floor plan, section and elevations, site plan, or details of proposed additions or alterations, and date of approval if given. Many are coloured, using water colour tints, although there are also non-coloured pen drawn plans and a few blueprints.
