The box of special papers contains the following files which represent mainly unregistered papers dealing with matters requiring the gathering and collating of information: Return of departments to request for information re travelling and other allowances, 1886; Blank cover memorandum from the Civil Service Board to the Principal Under-Secretary re appointments to the Mines Department, 1887 (not sent); Manuscript of Civil Service Board Report, 1889, and proof copy of appendices; Report of Civil Service Board, 1898, and related papers; Papers relating to the organisation of the Post Office, 1886-89; Manuscript and proofs of Civil Service Board Report, 1890; Papers re numbers of civil servants and amount of salary paid to them called for by a motion of the Legislative Assembly, 1891-92; and Copy of printed circular re formation of Public Service Association, 1892.(6/50-52). 3 boxes.
