Full description
The minutes show the date, time, and place of meetings, the members present, the matters considered, and the decisions taken. Because they are fairly full, the minutes give a good view of the activities and the limitations of the Board. Volume 1 (1885-86) is largely concerned with the classification of offices and the definition of the Civil Service Act. The minutes of three preliminary meetings between the members-designate of the Board, before the Act came into force, on 1, 4 and 22 December 1884, are included in the front of the first volume.
The minutes are indexed from 4 June 1889 (vol.3) to the end of the series.
