These reports on various buildings etc. comprise transcripts of letters from the City Building Surveyor, together with partial minutes of evidence taken at Board meetings. Occasionally cross references are made to the Minute books, for full reports of proceedings and evidence.

In front of the volume there is a 'List of the Reports, Complaints and References dealt with by the City of Sydney Improvement Board' during 1879-80, giving details of each case, of the hearing and of the fees due.
