These files relate to policy matters (eg. military sheet standard mapping, photographic definitions, consulting services), annual programmes of work, proposed aerial surveys, survey projects and photographic programmes, estimates, legislation (eg. Environment and Planning Assessment Bill), minutes of meetings (eg. Director's Meetings, Control Register meetings, Staff Development Committee), and reports (on equipment, such as a slotted template machine; national mapping; rotational training movements; geodetic surveys; productivity; and technical training).

The files include correspondence and papers dating from 1946 to 1982.
