Each entry gives the name, age, calling, marital status, religion and education of German workers brought out to New South Wales to relieve the demand for special skills, such as winemaking and carpentry.
This series records the arrival of the German immigrants on the ships Beulah, Parland, Harmony, Balmoral and San Francisco.
Printed indexes to these records were published. This series is indexed in Guide to the State Archives of New South Wales No.29: Immigration: Index to Assisted Immigrants Arriving Sydney and Newcastle 1844-59 (1987, in 3 volumes) (hardcopies available in Western Sydney reading room). Their content is included in the Assisted immigrants index 1839-1896.
