Full description

These volumes record similar details as given in the series Registers of patients and admission books.

They are arranged chronologically by the year and date of admission, as well as the overall number on register and the number for the year. The columns record the following patient details: name, sex (M/F), age, social condition (M [Married], S [Single] or U [Unknown]), number of children, occupation, nativity, residence, religion, how they had been sent or admitted, date of medical certificate and by whom it was signed, and the form of mental disorder. A list of assignable mental disorders is provided at the beginning of the volume. 

Additionally, the volumes record the patient's supposed cause of insanity, the existence of any insane relations, the number of previous attacks, the duration of existing attack, age at first attack, date of discharge, and a note on whether the patient had recovered, relieved symptomatically, not improved or died. The remaining columns comment on the patient's time in hospital and observations by medical staff - for example, the presence of bodily disorders, suicidality or whether they had been transferred to different sections.
