These warrants have been pasted on to sheets and bound into volumes. They are arranged chronologically by the date of committal of a patient.

They appear to have served as authorisations by the Governor for the admission of lunatics (who had been certified by 2 doctors as being of unsound mind) into Tarban Creek Asylum. Various different forms were used (including one for dangerous lunatics) but all give similar information, including name of persons requesting an individual's admission, name of lunatic, and date of committal. Some of the volumes are indexed (see shelf list).
