The title New South Wales Fire Brigades In Orders was retained for the permanent staff until July 5th 1957 when it was expanded to New South Wales Fire Brigades Permanent Staff In Orders.In 1972 separate In Orders were introduced for issue to the administrative staff under the title Board’s Orders- Administrative Staff. In November 1985 this title was expanded to Board’s Orders- Administrative and Technical Staff. These orders originate from the Secretary of the Board of Fire Commissioners.In 1979 the Board of Fire Commissioners approved that one set of In Orders be issued covering both Permanent and Volunteer Brigades. This series contains administrative orders originating from the Chief Officer of the Brigades. These circulars distributed to all stations contain the following information: procedures; rules and regulations; appointments and promotions; transfers; notices of examinations and examination syllabi, leave, social events, and notices of deaths of Brigade members. The circulars were issued on a regular basis (more often than weekly). Although they were issued as loose sheets these are bound sets of the circulars.
