These cases were dealt with summarily by the Court. The case papers generally include only the precipe or short plea, the summons (which is also in a shorter form than for above £5), and sometimes confessions or promissory notes offered in evidence.
The cases were not numbered at the time but arranged roughly alphabetically, by the initial letter of the plaintiff’s surname, within each year.
