Full description
These were sent by applicants seeking permission to practise before the Governor's Court as attorneys. Many of the petitions are from emancipists disputing the first rule of the Court, which made them ineligible to practise before it. Successful applicants were further required to complete oaths of allegiance which were attached to their petitions.See Appendix A, page 24, of the published guide for a full listing.
