Full description

These are copies of returns sent to various government officials, the majority of which are directed to the Under Secretary for Lands, the Colonial Secretary and the Colonial Treasurer. They include estimates of probable expenditures and receipts; yearly returns of miners' rights, business licences and leases of auriferous tracts issued on each of the gold fields in the Northern District; schedules of fees charged on the gold fields; the number of miners working on Crown lands on the gold fields; lists of officers and their duties; members of the Court of Appeal and Board for reporting on Claims to rewards for the Discovery of New Gold Fields; lists of civil servants in the Department of the Gold Commissioner, Northern Gold District entitled to placement on the Superannuation Fund; and lists of Mining Registrars and schedules of applications for leases of auriferous tracts.
