The certificates record the name of the company, situation of the nearest station, the municipality or ward and the district assigned for operation.

Each certificate was filled in by the company and lodged at the Fire Brigades Board. The premises were inspected by the Superintendent of the Metropolitan Fire Brigade before the company was officially registered as a volunteer fire company.
