Full description
These cards show all work carried out on locomotives nos. 4601 to 4640, from the time when they were first brought into service to January 1977. The series comprises two photocopies of each original card held by the Railways Division of the Public Transport Commission.
The locomotive involved in the Granville train accident was number 4620 and was a "46 class" electric locomotive. (1) Locomotive 4601 was ready for service on 26 June 1956 and Locomotive 4640 was ready for service on 19 December 1958. Locomotive 4620 was ready for service on 27 March 1957. (2) Following the Granville rail accident Locomotive 4620 was withdrawn from service and stored at Chullora Locomotive Workshops and was scrapped in 1979. (3)
These records were transferred as State archives by the Civil Law Litigation Branch of the Crown Solicitor's Office.
