This series consists of one volume of press copies of letters sent by the Clerk of Petty Sessions, Uralla to various private individuals and superiors in the public service. As the chief government officer in Uralla the Clerk also acted in other capacities as business required. Some of these were Warden's Clerk and Mining Registrar, Agent for the Curator of Intestate Estates. (It should be noted that this list is not necessarily exhaustive.)

The letters are copied onto numbered tissue paper pages. The first thirty-six pages are missing. The final numbered page is 792 but it seems likely that other pages are missing at the end of the volume. There are certainly pages missing throughout and a number of pages throughout the volume are torn. The first complete item of correspondence to survive is dated the 15 July 1881. The final regular item appears to be from July 1891. However, there are at least two items at the end of the volume out of date order; perhaps the final pages of the volume were used to record non-standard items.

There is an incomplete index to entries at the front of the volume (the majority of the entries refer to the early missing pages).
